Cornfield care centre creates 100 new jobs in Limavady
A care home for the elderly is to create 100 new jobs in Limavady in County Londonderry.
The Cornfield care centre, which already employs 120 people, is opening a new 52-bed unit after a major £3.4m investment.
Eighty of the new jobs will be full-time posts.
The centre’s new unit is due to open in the coming weeks after being completed ahead of schedule.
The Cornfield care centre is owned and managed by husband and wife team Jervis and Jennifer Nutt.
It first opened in 1999 and the latest expansion will see it increase to 127 beds dedicated to the care of the frail, elderly and Alzheimer’s/dementia sufferers.
Work began on the new purpose-built facility in October and will combine state-of-the-art nursing equipment with accommodation services.
The company also hope that the new unit will provide additional business to local traders who provide food and medical supplies.
Managing director Jervis Nutt said he was delighted to be able to expand the business.
“I am delighted to be able to extend the care centre to meet the growing demand for such high quality and personalised care,” he said.
“We now look forward to opening our doors and welcoming new residents to the centre in the coming weeks.”
